Five Seniors Moving On to Play College Football

May 17, 2017

After an outstanding 10-2 season led by a great senior class, the Warriors are sending five of the ten seniors on to the ranks of college football. About 8% of high school athletes have the opportunity to play athletics in college, but 50% of this special football class will get that opportunity next year. Academic and Athletic scholarships are making that possible. Coach Spenn had this to say about the players, "Each one of these players had an outstanding senior season and because of their willingness to look at a lot of options, they have all found great fits for them to play college football. I am excited to hear the stories as their careers continue."

Brett Buckley - Houston Baptist University

Brett earned all-district honors at running back this season but will return to his favorite position of Wide Receiver for the Huskies in the fall. This season, he rushed for 774 yards and 18 touchdowns in addition to 14 catches for 242 yards and a touchdown reception.

Quinn Davis - Berry College

Quinn was a two way starter for the Warriors and a starter on the defensive line since his freshmen year. He earned all-district honors on both sides of the football this season and will be joining the Vikings as a defensive linemen in the fall.

Matthew Kooiman - Olivet Nazarene University

Matthew was a two way starter and earned all-state honors on both sides of the ball as an offensive and defensive linemen. He will join the Tigers as an offensive linemen for the 2017 season.

Austin Muehlenbrock - Millsaps College

Austin was the leading tackler for the Warriors with 125 total tackles and 14.5 tackles for loss as an inside linebacker. He earned first team all-state honors. He will play for the Majors next season as a strong safety or outside linebacker.

Nick Webster - Avila University

Nick will be an Eagle next season along with 2016 graduate Landen Nealy. He lead the Warriors in rushing last season with 882 yards and 12 touchdowns. He earned 1st team all-district honors.

All five seniors will be signing at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, May 25, just prior to our end of season athletics banquet. Click here for a complete list of all the Warriors that have gone on to play college football.
