Swimming Gets a Fast Start

The swim season does not get into full swing until after Christmas, but two CCS swimmers have gone to meets this year and have turned in personal best times, including a new school record in the 100 Back for Elliott Jones. 

Eliott Jones and Alexandria Vinson competed in the Polar Bear Meet on November 4. Vinson finished 6th in the 100 Back with a time of 1:14.42 and 8th in the 100 Free with a time of 1:04.38. Jones won the 200 IM with a time of 1:59.47 and his signature event of the 100 Back with a time of 52.82.

Jones also partcipated in the TISCA Gulf Coast Championships on November 17. This was a very large meet with 54 teams mostly consisting of large public school teams. Despite being a one-man team, Jones tied for 25th place out of 37 teams. He swam a personal best 1:57.34 in the 200 IM. He finished the preliminaries in 9th place and finished in 11th place after the B final came right down to the wall. In his state record holding event of the 100 Back, he set a personal best time of 52.81 and finsihed 6th in the finals.
