Warriors Are the Only Undefeated Team in District Play

October 12, 2017

Two kick returns for touchdowns provided a spark that drove the Warriors to victory over the undefeated Magnolia Legacy Lions last Friday. The district game was the TAPPS game of the week, and it lived up to the excitement. A defensive stand in the last few minutes before halftime forced a punt, and Christian Fleischhauer returned it to the end zone. The Warriors took the 20-13 lead into the half. The offense got the run game rolling in the second half and opened up a 13 point lead in the third quarter.

The Lions got on the board early in the fourth and it looked like the game would come down to the wire. Moments later, Braden Barbisch took the kickoff the distance, and the offense tacked on another score. A defensive stop made the final score, 39-20.

The victory gives the Warriors a one game lead in the race for the district championship. They are currently ranked #1 in TAPPS Division III by Max Preps and #4 in the TAPPS Coaches' Poll. They will have to continue to battle, as the next two opponents are currently 4-1 in district play. The Warriors will host the first of those opponents this Friday night for homecoming. Bay Area has a tremendous rushing attack and is just coming off victories over Northland and Logos Prep.
